At
FormFast, customer support is our number one priority. And while we always
welcome your questions, we thought wed include some Frequently Asked
Questions in our newsletter. We encourage you to download this information
and keep it for future reference.
1. Can we scan in a form,
or do we have to create each form from scratch?
Yes you can scan in a form. The form can be scanned directly into the
design software, or it can be created using the software, which came with
the scanner. The software can convert any 300 dpi (dots per inch) PCX
or TIF file format. In addition, forms which have been created in other
software packages, such as Word, can also be imported into the design
software using a specialized printer driver. The only forms which would
need to be created from scratch are those that are brand new and don't
exist on paper or any file format.
2. Can you print barcodes on forms?
Yes, we can print Barcode39 and Code 128 barcodes. Barcodes can be created
from static information, such as a form number, or can be created from
variable data, such as a patient account number. Barcode code fields can
also be concatenated together so that multiple fields can create one longer
barcode. Sometimes this is required for optical imaging software. The
barcodes are also available in various sizes and in addition a check digit
can be applied to the Barcode 39. (Code 128 has a check digit built into
it as a standard)
3.
Can I print forms to printers based on information in the data?
Yes, you can use the name of the file and/or actual data in the file to
determine where to print a specific form. There is no limit to the number
of data elements that can be searched to determine printer destination.
You also have the ability to write sophisticated AND/OR conditions to
control the routing of the forms.
4. Can I print to any printer I have in the hospital?
Yes and No. The software prints to any laser printer or copier/printer
which is PCL5e compatible. The software adds it's own code for tray calls;
paper size etc. so no special configuring of the printer is necessary.
FormFast can also print to Cognitive Thermal printers, and is currently
in the process of adding other thermal printers to the list of available
printing options.
FormFast does NOT print to any dot matrix or line printer.
5. Can I create my own forms?
Yes, FormFast offers complete training for it's software products. Training
can be done at the customer site, or at the FormFast location in St. Louis,
Missouri. After the design training, the user will have the capability
to scan in, import from other software, or create from scratch, their
own forms. This will include all the drawing tools, adding graphics to
a form, spell checking (including spell checking in foreign languages),
saving forms, and any other specialized tools which aid in the design
process.
6. What versions of Windows does your software support?
Our software will run on Windows 95/98 2000, NT, and XP. The form design
software has a special printer driver which imports forms from other applications,
currently this driver does not work on Windows 2000 or XP, however we
are in the process of updating that driver.
We also have software that runs on the Meditech Magic platform.
